This is exactly why I got a karate monkey...AWESOME. This is exactly why I got a karate monkey recently. I went from six bikes down to an all city macho man disc and a karate monkey disc. The fun part is that the dropout spacing, disc brakes, and 11spd will all swap between bikes. I've been eyeing the 88mm chinese carbon wheels for the macho man to have fun on group rides with the cool kids, but in the back of my mind i was like - those'd fit the karate monkey too... Wound up here and it's awesome! Great post. Thanks for the inspiration. Looks pretty g...I appreciate how you spell tire ;)

Looks pretty good to me even though I'd be tempted to use something stronger than floss. I've had lots of sidewall cuts over the years but never tried stitching them back up. I like the idea of using the sidewall from an old tire as a boot, makes a lot of sense. I'd have to make sure the area is airtight before reinflating - tubeless can be a pain.

I've never had much luck gluing things to the inside of a tire (patches, a boot). I guess I might need to clean it better before I use the cement. You can't rough it up because the rubber is so thin. Tubeless sealant is especially bad, I'm thinking I'll take some alcohol wipes for this when I'm riding. Either that or just stick a tube in a wait till I get home to fix it... and waste $7 in precious sealant.

I was wondering how a patch for a rubber boat (PVC or Hypalon) would work? They use excellent glue and the patches are built to take a lot of stress. Hmm, might work well.Chris LeBlanchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01612066176491890325noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15091028.post-3889567762960700772017-01-31T22:31:28.358+13:002017-01-31T22:31:28.358+13:00Yeah, they are all the rage Andre, you still need ...Yeah, they are all the rage Andre, you still need a bit of steerer at the bottom though, they might just work as the clamping mechanism is near the bottom, not sure what kind of structural integrity the internals of them gives it eh.El jefehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00411840288979303062noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15091028.post-51932706527960586432017-01-31T21:44:07.945+13:002017-01-31T21:44:07.945+13:00Maybe this for your short steerer woes
